K9 Unit, Emergency Task Unit deployed during domestic incident in Ridgeway

Yesterday, at approximately 2:46 p.m., Niagara Regional Police Service responded to a domestic complaint from a female victim in Ridgeway. The victim reported that a male had unlawfully entered her residence, made threats, and refused to leave.

The female was not at the home at the time of the incident and contacted police from a safe location. No injuries were reported.

Multiple units from Niagara Regional Police Service, including 5 District uniform officers, detectives, the K9 Unit, the Emergency Task Unit, and negotiators, were deployed to the scene in the Oakhill Forest area. The residence was safely contained, and a warrant was obtained at 10:27 PM. The suspect was then arrested without incident.

A 25-year-old male of no fixed address has been charged with:

  • Assault
  • Mischief Under $5,000
  • Uttering threats (2 Counts)
  • Fail to comply with probation order (2 counts)
  • Possession of a firearm, weapon, or ammunition contrary to prohibition order

The identity of the accused is not being released due to concerns about identifying the victim.

The accused was scheduled to appear for a video bail hearing earlier today at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in St. Catharines.
