Hospice Niagara launches new ‘mega’ fundraising lottery

Hospice Niagara is retiring a 16-year-old fundraiser and is replacing it with a new one.
The 5-Car Draw will no longer be held, but in its place the organization is launching the Niagara Mega 50/50, a fundraising lottery with multiple chances to win.
It’s also a “meaningful way to support hospice palliative care across the region,” says a news release from Hospice Niagara, which has a new facility opening in Fort Erie in 2026 next to the new Gilmore Lodge.

With bigger prizes, more frequent draws, and better odds, the Niagara Mega 50/50 builds on the legacy of the beloved 5-Car Draw, offering the community an easy and affordable way to make a difference.
“It’s not just big, it’s mega big,” says Alicia Merry, director of marketing, communications and fund development.
“Every ticket helps Hospice Niagara continue to provide compassionate care, completely free of charge, to people and families across Niagara,” she added.
Tickets are available now at mega5050.ca for $20 each, 20 for $40, 100 for $50, 250 for $100, and 500 for $175, says the news release.
Once a ticket is purchased, it is automatically entered into every remaining draw even after winning.
Early bird prizes include $10,000 cash draws on May 27, June 24, July 22, and August 19, and draw for a 2025 Silverado 1500 Crew Custom 4WD on September 9.
The final jackpot draw will take place on September 12 at noon.
Funds raised through the Niagara Mega 50/50 help support essential programs including in-home care for people with a life-limiting illness; support for caregivers; end-of-life medical care and emotional support, as well as grief support for children, youth and adults.
