Head-on collision injures two drivers in Crystal Beach

Two drivers were injured, one seriously, in a three-vehicle collision on Ridgeway Road in Crystal Beach on Sunday, January 21st.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Lynwood Lane around 4:03 p.m. following reports of a crash. A grey Toyota Corolla and a Ford Mustang collided head-on, with the impact pushing the Toyota into a parked, unoccupied Acura TL.

The 54-year-old male driver of the Toyota, from Niagara Falls, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. He was later airlifted by Ornge Air Ambulance to an out-of-region hospital. The 49-year-old male driver of the Ford, from Oakville, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Initial investigation suggests the Toyota was travelling southbound on Ridgeway Road at a high speed before colliding with the Ford and the parked Acura.

Detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Service’s Collision Reconstruction Unit and Forensic Services Unit are investigating the cause of the crash. Ridgeway Road between Fernwood Lane and Graeber Avenue was closed for several hours while officers investigated the scene.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1008389.
