Fort Erie SPCA has 70 cats and 30 dogs up for adoption

The Fort Erie SPCA is nearly at capacity when it comes to animals up for adoption, says manager Wendy Trombley.

The shelter on Jarvis Street currently has about 70 cats and 30 dogs, she told Fort Erie Radio on Friday.

But it seems a forever home is found on a daily basis.

“It may slack off a little bit here and there but usually we are about one a day for adoption,” she said.

Trombley also said there is “no expiry date” at the SPCA.

“We see it through forever and we find a situation that suits any animals that may have problems,” she said, also noting that training is sometimes a solution.

Most of the dogs at the SPCA come from rescue organizations across Ontario.

The Fort Erie SPCA also started a spay and neuter clinic in July and has helped 300 animals with procedures since then.
