A local organization is pitching in to make sure the wish lists of local children don’t go unanswered.
With an ongoing Canada Post strike, which started nearly a month ago, Fort Erie Festivals is collecting letters to Santa through email and making sure they are forwarded to the big guy’s desk in the North Pole.
“It’s not the kids’ fault there’s a strike going on,” said Bob Brown, one of the lead organizers of the initiative.
At a recent Christmas event hosted by Fort Erie Festivals, about 70 letters were collected in hard copy form.
“We had to do something,” said Brown, recalling the joy his children experienced when receiving a reply from St. Nick, acknowledging their letters had been received.
Letters can be sent to lettertomrclaus@gmail.com before December 15.
Striking Canada Post workers in Fort Erie have been collecting letters to Santa on the picket line.
The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee is also collecting them at all three branches of the Fort Erie Public Library.
