Fort Erie seeks public input on Ferndale Park upgrades

The Town of Fort Erie is inviting residents to help shape upcoming improvements to Ferndale Park, one of the community’s most visited recreational spaces.

According to a recent town announcement, the upgrades will include a full replacement of the existing playground and the spray pad at the park, located at 865 Ferndale Avenue.

Feedback from the public will help determine the final designs.

Two playground concepts have been developed for the park, also known as Bertie Centennial, each meeting Canadian Standards Association requirements and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act guidelines.

The new equipment will be located in the same general area as the current playground, says the town, and will feature accessible and inclusive elements for children aged two to 12.

Residents can view the designs and vote for their preferred option by visiting letstalk.forterie.ca and logging in or creating an account.

The town is also seeking ideas for the new splash pad. An online survey asks participants to rank desired features, such as gentle spray elements for toddlers, interactive water play, taller structures for older children, shade, seating, accessibility features and themed designs.

The first round of public engagement runs from August 8 to 22.

The playground design is expected to be awarded in fall 2025, with splash pad concept development following later in the year.

Detailed design work is scheduled for spring 2026, and construction is planned for completion in summer or fall 2026.
