Fort Erie resident charged with impaired driving in Oro-Medonte

A Fort Erie man is facing charges following an impaired driving investigation in Oro-Medonte Township earlier this week, according to a news release from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Orillia detachment.
On June 3 at approximately 4:16 a.m., the Orillia OPP were alerted by members of the public to a possible impaired driver on Highway 11 southbound in Oro-Medonte.
Officers located the vehicle and, based on their observations, initiated an impaired driving investigation.
As a result, a 35-year-old individual from Fort Erie was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol; driving a motor vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock device; operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code; failure to comply with a release order; driving while under suspension; and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
The individual’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
