Speculation followed online that there will be a fee to purchase or borrow viewing glasses from these locations. According to one Facebook user, they will cost $5 each.

She continued, “Not sure, though. If true, it’s crazy when you can buy 12 approved ones [from] Amazon for less than $30.”

Fort Erie Radio is unable to substantiate either of these claims, but readers are advised to only use eclipse viewing glasses that meet the ISO 12312-2 international safety standard.

According to The Planetary Society, “Some vendors sell solar eclipse glasses with the ISO label that haven’t actually been tested and certified.”
