Film Circuit showing TIFF films monthly at Meridian Centre

A group of volunteers has been rolling out the red carpet on a monthly basis since 2018 at the Meridian Centre for the Arts at Greater Fort Erie Secondary School to give the community a cinematic experience.
The Fort Erie Film Circuit is a partnership with the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), one of many groups across the country who host events and show motion pictures that have been screened at the world-renowned festival that takes places up the Queen Elizabeth Way annually.
The program took a two-year hiatus from 2020 to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but is back again for another season in 2024-25 with the first showing taking place earlier this week.

‘Café Daughter’ hit the big screen at the 500-seat theatre on Monday, the story of a nine-year-old half-Chinese half-Cree girl, finding her place in a small Saskatchewan community in the 1960s.
About 150 people attended, said Doug Reilly, group member and communications officer for the group.
“It’s a beautiful theatre, but we have trouble filling it,” Reilly told Fort Erie Radio on Wednesday.
Tickets are only $10 per person.
“It’s definitely an opportunity for people locally to see TIFF films without having to go to Toronto and pay the big bucks,” he said, adding the group’s goal is “not to make money.”
Films are shown the final Monday of each month until the end of May, but there is no event in December due to the holidays.
‘The Great Escaper’ starring Glenda Jackson and Michael Caine will be shown next on October 28.
