A local theatre company is calling on young thespians to hit the stage for two upcoming productions.
Down the Rabbit Hole (DTRH), founded in 2014, will be casting actors aged four to 11 for ‘Seussical KIDS’ and aged 12 to 18 for ‘Into the Woods’ through auditions being held February 8 and 9.

The theatre group, based out of their own space at the Crystal Ridge Community Centre, is hoping to see about 130 kids come out to put together casts for both Broadway musicals, said DTRH co-founder Anastasia Boake, adding that 90 are already registered.
They also have classes online for students who do not wish to audition but want to be part of the ensemble for both productions, said Boake.
Classes and rehearsals will run twice weekly for 10 weeks for ‘Seussical KIDS’ and 12 weeks for ‘Into the Woods.’
They will be directed by Boake and Ashley Krawczyk, with choreography taught by Lisa Thompson and music by Greg Kennedy.
Children will learn singing, dancing and acting, said Boake.
Auditions for ‘Seussical’ will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 to 9 p.m. for ‘Into the Woods’ on Saturday and Sunday.
DTRH is coming off a production of ‘Shrek the Musical,’ which Boake said was a “resounding success.”

There were four sold-out shows in late November.
The stage “came alive” with over 100 young actors who “transported audiences into the whimsical world” of Shrek, Donkey, Fiona, and their quirky companions, said a news release from DTRH.
“Our cast poured their hearts into every performance, and it was truly inspiring to see their growth over the course of rehearsals,” said director Ashley Krawczyk.
“The level of talent and commitment shown by each actor was extraordinary, and it’s wonderful to see how theatre brings our community together,” added Boake.
Auditions take place at ‘Studio 89,’ an upstairs area of the community centre, and the shows are to be held in the main area of the community centre in June.
DTRH previously operated out of the Sanctuary Centre for the Arts but moved into their current space in 2023.
They have performed more than 20 productions since they started.
