DB Building Materials in downtown Ridgeway ready to serve local community

New enterprises are popping up all over Greater Fort Erie, and one of them celebrated its official grand opening this week.
Dream Built (DB) Building Materials started serving customers on August 3, but welcomed invited guests on Friday afternoon to unveil the store in downtown Ridgeway that provides electrical, plumbing, lighting, and building supplies.
The store is operated by Gurtej Multani, who has been involved in the construction industry since 2008, working alongside his father Bob with a Toronto-based company, he told Fort Erie Radio at the grand opening event.

But his family is very familiar with the neighbourhood where the new store for handy people has set up.
“We’re here to do business,” said Multani, adding “there is a need” for a store like his in the area.

It is located next to Ridgeway Animal Hospital, which is owned by his uncle Dr. Manmohan Multani, who opened the animal practice about 15 years ago, and also owns the unit where DB is operating today.
The store has plenty of home renovation supplies, but also pulls shipments from a warehouse in Brampton, Multani, a longtime Niagara resident, told those in attendance on Friday.
He looks forward to serving the local community, alongside his mother Manjeet, who he accepted plaques with Friday from the Town of Fort Erie, as well as the offices of Niagara Falls MP Tony Baldinelli, and Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates.

Fort Erie Mayor Wayne Redekop said grand openings and ribbon cuttings are a very regular thing for himself, members of council, and staff to “show support” for local businesses.
Caralee Grummett, the Town’s economic development manager, told Fort Erie Radio at Friday’s event that more than 150 new businesses have opened in Greater Fort Erie since 2021.
Multani said the store consists of about 1,200 square feet and employs himself and one other currently, but that a warehouse expansion that will be pursued soon could create more jobs.
DB Building Materials, located at 257-A Ridge Road North, is closed on Sundays but open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. the other six days of the week.
