Crystal Ridge Dream Center hosts May charity dinner and record show

This May, the Crystal Ridge Dream Center is all about setting tables and spinning turntables with two events raising funds for a local charity.

A roast beef dinner on May 1 will take place at the Ridgeway Lions Club banquet hall with $25 entry and all proceded going to the Dream Center’s local programming. Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner is at 6 p.m.

The night will include live music, a silent auction, a penny table, door prizes and a 50-50 draw. Performances from the centre’s music program and program displays are also planned.

The event invites residents to reserve seats in advance through the centre’s website.

A second fundraiser follows on May 30 with the centre’s second annual charity record show at the Crystal Ridge Dream Center at 385 Derby Road from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission costs $2.

Vendors will be offering vinyl records, CDs, cassettes and music memorabilia. The event will also have ultrasonic record cleaning for any “vinyl junkies” looking to preserve their collection.

A barbecue will be sizzling from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., along with a silent auction and door giveaways.

Both events aim to generate operating funds for the centre’s ongoing services, such as its community kitchen program on Tuesdays and Fridays and non-perishable food giveaways.

Ticket sales for the dinner remain open online, while the record show operates as a drop-in event with admission at the door.
