Another week means Fort Erie commuters will have to contend with more lane closures and construction on Niagara highways.
Headed toward Toronto on the QEW, between Mountain Road in Niagara Falls and Niagara Street in St. Catharines, as well as between Mountain Road and Glendale Avenue in Niagara-on-the-Lake, construction is scheduled to take place, says Ontario 511, the province’s traffic information website.
Between Lake Street and Seventh Street in St. Catharines work is taking place Toronto bound, causing alternating lane closures.
The Fort Erie-bound on-ramp at Martindale Road will be closed and work is also going on between Martindale Road and Seventh Street, Fort Erie bound.
Work is also scheduled on the QEW at Highway 405.
Between Glendale and Fourth avenues in St. Catharines, work is taking place northbound on Highway 406.
Between Fourth Avenue and the Westchester Road overpass, construction is going on southbound.
Also on Highway 406, between Chestnut Street in St. Catharines and East Main Street in Welland, work is planned.
Northbound between East Main Street and Westchester Avenue will also see work taking place.
Work continues on Highway 58 near the Thorold Tunnel, southbound near Pine Street in Thorold.
The tunnel remains closed southbound and has an estimated completion date of August 18, according to Ontario 511.
