Bingo, brunch, and more: Celebrate Mom with BIAFE fundraiser

Fort Erie residents looking for a unique way to celebrate Mom this year can look forward to a sparkling afternoon of fun, food, and bingo with the Brain Injury Association of Fort Erie (BIAFE).

BIAFE is hosting a special Mother’s Day event at the Royal Canadian Legion in Ridgeway on Sunday, May 12 at 11:30 a.m.

“We hosted one of these events earlier this year and it was a huge success, so we thought why not host one on Mother’s Day and elevate it a little bit,” said Britney Conlon, operations manager for BIAFE.

Promising a fun and festive atmosphere with a live DJ who will be taking requests, guests are encouraged to bring their own sparkling beverage–corkage fee applies–to add some extra fizz to their celebration.

The event will feature a charcuterie board lunch with a vegan option available, and guests can indulge in a decadent dessert after lunch.

The highlight of the afternoon will be seven rounds of bingo. Each round offers a chance to win designer handbags from Betsey Johnson and Coach, as well as other prizes.

There will also be a bonus “power round” with extra cards and even better prizes available for purchase. Dads won’t be left out; the seventh round will have a unique prize just for them.

There are even more opportunities to leave a winner with a raffle prize up for grabs, and the flower centrepieces needing new homes by the end of the event.

All proceeds from the event will benefit BIAFE, which offers invaluable support to individuals with brain injuries.

“Whether that’s giving [the injured] somewhere to go and somewhere to relearn some life skills, or maybe it’s helping with some paperwork and getting things sorted out, they’re absolutely amazing individuals,” said Conlon, highlighting the important work done by BIAFE volunteers.
