Local company nominated for manufacturing award

A Fort Erie company is one of 20 nominees for the Ontario Made Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions of local manufacturers and retailers across the province.
Hosted by Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, Nova Products on Industrial Drive is nominated in the manufacturer spotlight category with nine others.
Nova Products was started in 2010 with the launch of its own line of blue curbside recycle bins. Its parent company is Peninsula Plastics, which has been in business since 1976.
Specializing in manufacturing means Nova’s products are weather resilient and designed with the user in mind, said marketing manager Sydney Bolton, who added that the local company is honoured to be nominated for this award.
“We are a proud Ontario manufacturing company and have always made sure to highlight our roots,” said Bolton in a statement to Fort Erie Radio.
“To us, this recognition just shows our team’s dedication to quality, and supporting local communities,” she added.
Nova’s catalogue of products includes all different sizes and functions of recycle and waste bins, along with storage bins both small and large, and accessories for those bins.
The company started in Ontario but over the years has started selling its bins throughout Canada and parts of the United States.
And as they expanded, so did their product line.
Nova found a common issue that most households had when it came to recycling, and that’s odour, leading to them creating odour control products for their existing bins.
“We want recycling and waste separation to be easy and accessible to all, and creating solution-based products for our customers and community is exactly what Nova strives to do,” said Bolton.
From August 25 to October 5, Ontarians are encouraged to vote for their favourite manufacturer and retailer in each category by visiting ontariomade.awardsplatform.com.
Each vote that is cast gives participants a chance to win one of five $250 gift cards to a registered Ontario Made manufacturer of their choice.
