Team Frosty looking for groups to assist with buying milk for COPE
August 6, 2025 at 3:25 AM
Milk does a community good.
Team Frosty is busy during the holiday season collecting donations for Community Outreach Program Erie (COPE) through its donation barrels at local businesses and other sites, promoting its custom-created colouring book and preparing a party at The Plaice where ‘Frosty the Christmas Horse’ is the star of the occasion.
In addition to all of that, the group works to fill the shelves at the food bank with milk that’s distributed to people in need.
Last year’s haul of milk was too much to handle in a way, explained Gary Hass, one of the founders of Team Frosty.
“We bought so much milk it overwhelmed the limited space they have at COPE,” he told Fort Erie Radio.
A new approach is asking community organizations, businesses, and other groups to commit to a donation of $500 to cover the cost of COPE’s milk needs for one designated calendar month.
Five months of 2026–January, July, October, November, and December–have already been claimed, and the remaining seven remain open for groups to cover.
“This way, they can buy as needed,” said Hass in an interview, adding the idea is to promote good nutrition being available to people who use COPE.
Hass said it would be ideal for a commitment of two to three years to cover one specific month.
He said COPE can be contacted at (905) 871-2526 by those who wish to help out.
