Fort Erie drivers face more delays despite lighter QEW work

There is work taking place on the QEW this week in Niagara, but less than Fort Erie residents have grown accustomed to this summer.

According to Ontario 511, there will be two alternating lane closures Toronto bound between Lake Street and Seventh Street in St. Catharines.

Fort Erie bound between Seventh Street and Martindale Road will also be a construction zone, which will result in the Fort Erie-bound on-ramp at Martindale Road being closed all week.

On Highway 140, at East Main Street and Farr Road, an engineering investigation will be occurring.

There will be two spots on Highway 406 where work is taking place, one of them being northbound at the QEW where there will be one alternating lane.

There will also be an engineering investigation at Highway 406 southbound at the Gibson Lake Bridge.

The Thorold Tunnel along Highway 58 continues to be closed to southbound traffic, and there will also be work between the tunnel and Pine Street.

Northbound between Kleiner and Forks roads in Welland will be the site of another engineering investigation.

And on Highway 405, there will be continued construction in both directions in the area of Stanley Avenue and the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge in Niagara-on-the-Lake, as well as at the QEW and Stanley Avenue.
