July 5, 2025 at 5:00 AM
UPDATE | July 10, 2025 @ 1:54 p.m.: In a post published to Facebook earlier today, the ownership of Sizzlin Meats Inc. announced it has decided against opening a brick-and-mortar location in Fort Erie.
“Due to the recent influx of negative reviews following RibStock and our announcement of expanding into a restaurant location at the former Take 2 site in Fort Erie, we have decided not to proceed with investing in our inaugural location,” says the Facebook post.
“While we welcome competition, we…are taking a step back and will wait until next year as originally planned,” it added.
Sizzlin Meats thanked its followers for their continued support and said they “look forward to doing more in the future.”
ORIGINAL STORY | July 5, 2025 @ 5 a.m.: Sizzlin Meats Inc., a Niagara-based food truck known for its slow-cooked barbecue and comfort food, is preparing to open its first permanent location at 1882 Garrison Road, which for years has been home to Take 2 Restaurant & Bar.
The company confirmed the move in a recent social media post.
“It’s looking like our restaurant will happen sooner than we thought. Our food truck location will also remain open for the rest of the season,” reads a caption on a Facebook video posted late in June showcasing the interior of the Garrison Road location.
“Grateful for people like you,” the caption continued. “Now it’s time to bring you a truly amazing experience.”
The new restaurant is expected to open around August 1, according to public comments made by the company in response to the social media announcement.
Sizzlin Meats has built a loyal following throughout the Niagara region, serving a menu of smoked brisket, ribs, pulled pork, chicken wings, and hearty pasta dishes from their mobile kitchen.

The business has operated seasonally in Thorold from a food truck located at 13045 Lundy’s Lane. The new Fort Erie location will offer year-round service, giving Sizzlin Meats the ability to reach both regular customers and new guests in the growing community.
The restaurant’s menu is expected to be similar to its food truck offerings, according to a story published July 1 by What Now Media Group.
