New three-year deal in place for Fort Erie town staff

The Town of Fort Erie and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 714 have reached a new three-year collective agreement, ratified by both parties on Thursday.

The agreement includes wage increases, improved employee benefits and operational changes aimed at enhancing services for residents, the Town said in a Friday news release.

“We’re pleased to have reached a respectful and forward-looking agreement,” said Chris McQueen, the town’s chief administrative officer.

“This outcome reflects our strong working relationship with our CUPE employees, who provide essential services that keep our town running smoothly daily,” he added in the release.

CUPE Local 714 President Al Nick said in the release the deal supports both workers and the broader community.

“Our members are proud to serve the people of Fort Erie,” he said. “We appreciate the Town’s respectful and cooperative approach during negotiations.”

The agreement runs from 2025 to 2027.
