West Lincoln resident charged after transport collision on Garrison Road

The driver of a pilot vehicle controlling a transport truck with an oversized load faces careless driving charges following a collision in Fort Erie on Friday morning.

At about 8:20 a.m. Niagara Regional Police, Fort Erie Fire Department, and Niagara Emergency Medical Services responded to the area of Garrison Road and Benner Avenue for a reported motor vehicle collision.

In a statement, police explained to Fort Erie Radio that a transport truck with an oversized load was travelling eastbound on Garrison Road.

The trailer, being controlled by a pilot vehicle, lost control and a collision with a vehicle travelling westbound on Garrison Road occurred, said media relations officer Constable Luke Lindley.

The driver of the pilot vehicle, a 58-year-old resident of West Lincoln, faces a careless driving charge.

There were no injuries reported to police as a result of this collision.

A portion of Garrison Road remained closed for approximately four hours.

This investigation remains ongoing.
