Work continues on highways in the region this week

It’s a busy week of construction ahead on Niagara highways for Fort Erie commuters.

On the QEW, work begins Wednesday both ways between Christie Street/Lakeview Avenue in Grimsby and Victoria Avenue in Lincoln.

Between Ontario Street and Seventh Street in St. Catharines, recurring construction will start Wednesday on the Toronto-bound side of the QEW, according to Ontario 511, the province’s traffic information website.

The Toronto-bound on-ramp at Highway 406 will also see closures this week.

Between the Peace Bridge in Fort Erie and McLeod Road in Niagara Falls, there will be recurring construction in both directions.

Fort Erie-bound on and off ramps will be closed at Seventh Street in St. Catharines.

Work is also causing lane closures between Highway 420 and Mountain Road in Niagara Falls.

Between Niagara Street in St. Catharines and Mountain Road in Niagara Falls, work is taking place as well.

Eastbound and westbound, there will be construction on Highway 405 between the QEW and Stanley Avenue in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Work continues on Highway 58 between Thorold Stone Road/Davis Road in Niagara Falls and Pine Street in Thorold, both directions.

The Welland Tunnel on East Main Street in Welland is also an ongoing construction zone.
