Fort Erie girls return for second year of lemonade fundraiser

For the second year in a row, a group of young girls in Fort Erie will be teaming up to help send kids to summer camps.

They are participating in LemonAID Day hosted by Mountainview Homes, an annual fundraiser for Family and Children’s Services (FACS) being held this Saturday across the region.

There are close to 100 stands being set up across Niagara to support the cause.

Last year, Brookelyn Reaman and a handful of her friends raised $800 throughout the day, which added up to sending three kids to camp at a cost of about $250 per child.

“It was awesome,” said said Brookelyn’s mother, Rachel Reaman.

They are targeting a goal of $1,000 this year, Rachel told Fort Erie Radio in an interview.

One of Brookelyn’s friends was adopted, and her grandfather was also part of the FACS system years ago.

That’s why the cause “means a lot” to everyone involved, said Rachel.

The girls are all in Grade 6 and attend different local schools.

They will be set up 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dominion Road across from Old Fort Erie, one of five participating homes in town.

Funds can be donated at canadahelps.org until June 30. As of Tuesday afternoon, $65 had already been raised by Brookelyn and her team.

Other participating locations in Greater Fort Erie include 1045 Baron Drive, 270 Burleigh Road North, 3604 Elm Street, and 184 Pleasant Avenue North.
