The Fort Erie Race Track is set to launch its 128th season with eight races on opening day on Tuesday, including a pair of $30,000 cup races.
The Sprint into Summer Cup and the Summer Solstice Cup will headline the program as races four and seven, respectively. The evening will conclude with a full field of 12 thoroughbreds in the final race of the night.
“There is no better place to be on a Tuesday evening in Niagara than at Fort Erie Race Track,” said marketing manager James Culic in a Friday news release.
“Opening day is going to be the perfect kickoff to our summer of twilight Tuesday racing,” added Culic.

In addition to live racing, the season opener will feature a free concert by The Figure Four, food trucks, prize draws, and a T-shirt giveaway.
This year’s schedule includes several returning special events.
Highlights include Fort Foodie Fest on July 27, wiener dog races on July 13, and the corgi and basset hound races on August 18.
Families are invited back for Track-O-Lantern on October 13, when children can trick-or-treat around the venue.
The 90th running of the Prince of Wales Stakes, the track’s premier event, is set for September 9. The $400,000 race is the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown and will be part of a full card of stakes races.
