A playground in Fort Erie will soon be getting a major overhaul.
Goderich Street Park, which sits along Goderich Street at the bottom of what is referred to by some as Douglas Hill, was the subject of a recent survey conducted by the Town of Fort Erie, asking residents for feedback by choosing one of four options for the replacement project.
The proposed designs all included accessible features, as well as a swing set with a one toddler seat and one strap seat.
All four options offered multiple climbing features, accessible play panels and a minimum of one slide, the town says on its website.
Voting closed last week and 28 people submitted what they would like to see at the playground, which was built about 15 years ago and has not been updated since.

The cost of the replacement is $150,000, which has already been approved by council, said Elizabeth Latif, the town’s parks planner and manager of the Goderich Street park project.
Combined with the staff evaluation of the received bids for the project, the data collected after seeking input from the community indicates a “preferred choice became evident” in the process, she said.
The next steps include the local government entering negotiations on the terms of the contract with the highest-ranking proponent.
“Once all agreement documents are finalized and signed, the town will work with the successful candidate to finalize the design, plan, and schedule the construction and installation,” said Latif.
She said gathering feedback from the community “helps town staff understand which elements the public prefers and provides an opportunity for residents to voice their opinions on how the town’s playgrounds and parks evolve over time.”
