Work continues on QEW near Gilmore; lane closures Wednesday on Hwy. 3

There are a number construction projects affecting traffic on nearby highways this week for people commuting from Fort Erie.
On the QEW between Baker Road in Niagara Falls and Gilmore Road in Fort Erie, there will be alternating Fort Erie-bound lanes closed until October 26.
This is the result of work that is continuing from last week, according to Ontario 511, the province’s website that provided roadwork updates,
On Wednesday, Highway 3 between Nigh and Hollaway Bay roads, the right lane will be closed westbound between 6:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Also, Highway 58 northbound at the Thorold Tunnel will have one lane closed from today at 9 a.m. to Friday at 3 p.m.
There are also some local road closures planned, according to the Town of Fort Erie’s social media accounts.
Derby Road between Erie Road and Cambridge Road East in Crystal Beach will be closed Thursday from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
On Friday, from 12 to 6 p.m., Erie Road between Cambridge Place and Belfast Road South, also in Crystal Beach, will be closed.
Detour routes will be set up, and access for emergency services, transit and student transportation will be maintained and let through the closure.
The town also says disruptions at the Crystal Beach Waterfront Boat Launch may occur on October 15, 17, and 18.
