Friends of FEPL hosting book sale Saturday with thousands of titles

A book sale hosted by the Friends of the Fort Erie Public Library (FEPL) is turning another page with its second edition this weekend.
The first event was held in March and raised $2,000 for programming at all three library branches; Centennial, Crystal Ridge and Stevensville.
It takes place Saturday, October 5 at the Crystal Ridge branch on Ridge Road and will have thousands of titles up for grabs by donation, said group president Susan Jacobs.
On the Friends of FEPL’s website, it lists a number of recent purchases fundraising from their group has made possible for the library.
This year so far, they have raised $1,500 for Playaway Launchpads, $5,000 for seniors, adults, and children’s programming, among other things.
“It’s always stuff that’s not really covered by their budget,” said Jacobs about how the Friends support FEPL.
“We want to make sure our library is the best it can be for our residents,” she added.
On Tuesdays, the Crystal-Ridge branch has a drop-off system for people to donate books, which is where most of what will be available this weekend comes from, she said.
The first event saw large lineups before the doors opened in the morning.
“It was wonderful. We’re hoping for the same thing this time,” Jacobs said.
There will also be DVDs, art prints, locally designed tote bags, and book socks for sale.
Cash, debit, and credit cards will be accepted.
The book sale runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
