Hamilton man rams police cruisers in vehicle stolen from Fort Erie

On July 10, an incident involving a stolen vehicle resulted in charges laid against a 33-year-old man from Hamilton.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported that at approximately 4:20 p.m., officers in Hastings responded to an alert from their Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system regarding a stolen pickup truck.
It was reported stolen in Fort Erie on July 8.
Upon locating the parked pickup truck, officers attempted to surround it, prompting the driver to ram two police cruisers in an attempt to evade capture. The driver successfully fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.
Following the incident, Hamilton Police informed Northumberland OPP on July 13 that the suspect had been apprehended and was in their custody.
On July 15, the suspect was transferred back to Northumberland where he was subsequently charged.
He faces multiple charges, including two counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle, two counts of flight from a peace officer, failure to stop after an accident, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and failing to comply with a probation order.
He was held for bail and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
