Shoppers snapped up more than 1,000 DVDs at a Friends of the Fort Erie Public Library book sale Saturday.
“Surprisingly enough, DVDs and CDs seem to be making a huge comeback,” said Friends vice-president Lynne Kumagai.
The first shoppers were waiting outside the library’s Crystal Ridge branch in Ridgeway by about 9 a.m., and by the end of the day more than 350 people had come through the doors.

Disc sales helped the Friends raise just over $5,200 in one day. The group raised about $4,000 at last year’s fall sale and a record $5,700 at its spring sale in April.
“Every book donated and every purchase made helps raise funds for the Fort Erie Public Library,” Kumagai said. “The proceeds support library programs, services and resources that benefit residents of all ages throughout our community.”
The Friends’ last donation went to the library’s Library of Things collection, which lends out sports equipment and musical instruments to residents.

Fort Erie council recognized the Friends last November for donating more than $100,000 to the library since the group formed in 2014.
Kumagai said the sale would not be possible without the more than 40 volunteers who sorted and transported thousands of donated materials over the past year.
The Friends of the Fort Erie Public Library collects donations for its spring book sale every Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Crystal Ridge branch.
