It’s finger lickin’ gone.
Fort Erie’s only KFC closed permanently last month, just short of its 10-year anniversary.
Soul Foods Group Canada, which runs the restaurant as a KFC franchisee, confirmed the closure in an email to Fort Erie Radio but gave no explanation.
“We know KFC has been part of the Fort Erie community for many years, which makes saying goodbye especially difficult,” said Soul Foods Group Canada marketing director Sharron Fry.
Fry thanked the restaurant’s staff for their dedication, but the company did not share how many employees lost their jobs or whether Soul Foods Group offered them work at its other KFC locations.

Soul Foods Group took over management of 204 KFC restaurants in Ontario and B.C. in 2011, after the previous operator, Priszm Income Fund, ran into financial trouble.
The company now operates more than 400 KFC, Taco Bell, Burger King and Starbucks restaurants in Canada and the United Kingdom.
The Garrison Road restaurant opened on October 5, 2016, in the Garrison Village Shopping Centre.
KFC first opened in Fort Erie in 1969, according to the Fort Erie Public Library’s local history archive.
