Transit shuts down for Good Friday, runs rest of Easter weekend

Niagara Transit will run no service of any kind in Fort Erie on Good Friday, April 3, but will operate normally for the rest of the Easter long weekend.

All public transit in the town runs through two transit services: Route 22, a regional bus connecting Fort Erie’s municipal centre to Niagara Falls, and microtransit, a door-to-door on-demand shared ride service operating within Fort Erie’s boundaries.

On Good Friday, both will stop completely, according to Niagara Transit’s official holiday schedule.

Saturday, April 4 and Sunday, April 5 are not designated holidays and will see both services run on their normal weekend schedules. Easter Monday, April 6, will also have full service, with regional routes running from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and microtransit from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

On a regular operating day, Route 22 runs from Fort Erie’s municipal centre starting at 7:30 a.m. with service continuing until 8:30 p.m.

Anyone who depends on transit for work, medical appointments or other essential travel on April 3 will need to make other arrangements.

Niagara Transit’s customer service line at (833) 678-5463 will be available Good Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
