Police investigating burned stolen vehicle in Fort Erie

A vehicle fire discovered Tuesday evening is believed to have been intentionally set, according to a news release issued by Niagara Regional Police.

Uniform officers from 5 District were called to the area of Gilmore and Ridgemount roads at approximately 5 p.m. for reports of a vehicle fire. When they arrived, police determined the vehicle had been previously reported stolen and showed signs of deliberate ignition.

The vehicle is believed to be an orange 2013 Hyundai Veloster with front-end damage. The 5 District Criminal Investigative Bureau has taken over the investigation.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the vehicle in the area prior to the fire to call (905) 688-4111, option 3, extension 1009506.
