Frydaze Chip Shack hosts vendors to support Tails of the North

Frydaze Chip Shack on Ridge Road hosted a Saturday market to raise funds for Tails of the North, drawing farmers market foot traffic and vendors selling pet-themed goods to support the rescue.

The pop-up ran September 13 in downtown Ridgeway, where Frydaze invited local makers and the dog rescue to set up beside the chip wagon. The goal of the event was fundraising and outreach meant to help dogs in care and encourage fostering.

Annette Beauchamp, a volunteer with Tails of the North, told Fort Erie Radio that the goal was to “try to promote fostering, try to promote adopting and not buying from a breeder.”

Dale Baer, owner of Frydaze Chip Shack, said vendors contribute what they can and Frydaze donates the proceeds to charitable groups. Past beneficiaries have included the Fort Erie SPCA and Happy Days Animal Sanctuary.

“That’s how the community is, it’s all working together,” said Baer.

Several tables sold pet-themed merchandise with proceeds directed to the rescue, alongside regular chip orders from the truck.

Beauchamp said the group attends several events a year in Ridgeway because many board members live nearby. Volunteers spent the afternoon answering questions about fostering and pointing residents to online applications.

One guest in attendance was Bauer, a five-year-old miniature goldendoodle, who is currently seeking a home through Tails of the North’s website.

Baer said similar adoption events run about monthly during market season.
