Fort Erie Radio will broadcast every Fort Erie Meteors home game this season with play-by-play action called from the Leisureplex by Alec Murray, giving fans another way to follow the town’s Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League team.
“We rely on our community and the hometown and this is one more avenue for fans, families and friends to make sure they know everything,” said Nik Passero, head coach and general manager.

“We work really hard and we have a really good group of kids that wants to do right by the team and the town. Fans are going to be really excited with what we have going on,” Passero told Fort Erie Radio in an interview on Sunday.
Fort Erie Radio, a web-based broadcaster and digital news media outlet headquartered on Queen Street, first began its live programming in 2024.
The station airs a mix of rock and alternative music, hosted by local personalities with a strong emphasis on Fort Erie news coverage.
It is the town’s only radio station with a physical presence in Greater Fort Erie.
“I feel like this was always part of the plan,” said Brent Jones, Fort Erie Radio’s program director.
“There’s nowhere else the Meteors ought to be calling home, and we couldn’t be more proud to have them,” added Jones.
Passero noted that the fan base has only grown over the last five years, and he credits Murray for pushing the broadcast plan and making the team easier to follow.
“(Murray’s) one of the best around and wanted to push us a little bit. He put the wheels in motion and he got it over the finish line and we’re really excited,” said Passero.
Passero said the local team will be playing at home every Saturday and urged supporters to follow the team’s social media for updates on start times and ticket details.
Home games are played on the Kinsmen Pad at the Fort Erie Leisureplex, which seats 1,600, and Fort Erie Radio’s coverage begins at 7 p.m. this Saturday when the Meteors host the Caledon Bombers.
Fort Erie Radio host Jack Sutherland will provide on-air pre-game and post-game commentary, as well as during intermissions.
The home team concluded their preseason with three losses and two wins, including a 3-2 victory over the Ridley College Tigers on Sunday.
