What’s open and closed in Fort Erie this Labour Day

Here’s what’s open and closed in Greater Fort Erie this Labour Day Monday.

Fort Erie residents can take the bus this Labour Day after Niagara Transit added Sunday and holiday service to route 751 on September 6.

Closed Monday:

  • Fort Erie town hall at 1 Municipal Centre Drive, reopening Tuesday, September 8
  • All three Fort Erie Public Library branches
  • The LCBO at 1105 Thompson Road, under Ontario’s Retail Business Holidays Act
  • Canada Post, with no mail delivered or collected

Open Monday:

  • Route 751, the Fort Erie community bus, on a holiday schedule
  • Niagara Transit Plus, the shared-ride service, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • The Bridge Street Drop-off Depot at 1300 Bridge Street, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Garbage, recycling and green bin pickup, on the regular schedule
  • Fort Erie Race Track at 230 Catherine Street
  • Sobeys at 450 Garrison Road
  • Walmart at 750 Garrison Road

Niagara Health had not posted Labour Day hours for the Douglas Memorial urgent care centre at 230 Bertie Street as of Sunday. Its website says urgent care hours can change and directs patients to check before visiting.

The town says its Operations Division stays on call for road, water and sewer problems at (905) 871-1600.

Fort Erie Race Track moved the $400,000 Prince of Wales Stakes, the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown, to Labour Day this year, with free admission and parking.
