Town of Fort Erie hiring crossing guards for 2025-26 school year

The Town of Fort Erie is seeking applicants for part-time and stand-by school crossing guard positions for the 2025-26 school year.

Successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring student safety at designated school crossings from September 2025 through June 2026. The role includes using signage and hand signals to stop traffic, assisting pedestrians, and reporting unsafe behaviour.

Applicants must hold an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, have strong concentration and good sensory awareness, and be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. The position requires the ability to stand for extended periods and reliable transportation to the assigned location.

A satisfactory police background check and fitness assessment are required. Returning applicants must reapply to be considered.

The pay rate is $21.81 per hour for approximately 5 to 11.25 hours per week. Stand-by guards will be called on an as-needed basis.

The deadline to apply is 12 p.m. on July 18.

Applications can be submitted in person at town hall, online at forterie.ca/jobs, or by email to gdorner@forterie.ca.

In a social media post last week, the Town said, “If you are looking for an opportunity to serve the community, and promote a friendly, safe environment for our school children, we’d love to hear from you.”
