The Fox Shop: Elevating home décor in Bridgeburg

The design, the challenge, and the people are just some of the reasons that Korinne Antaya, owner of The Fox Shop, loves her job.

The Fox Shop (43 Jarvis St.) is set to celebrate its grand opening tomorrow, June 1, at 11:30 a.m.

The grand opening event will feature entertainment, a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the mayor and other dignitaries, food, refreshments, and an open wine bar.

Antaya started her interior design business four years ago after graduating just before the pandemic.

Reflecting on her journey, Antaya remarked, “I believe many things set my business apart from other home décor stores.”

She shared that The Fox Shop is historic Bridgeburg’s first ‘sip and shop’ offering a selection of wines, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages in a fully-licensed establishment.

Her new enterprise also provides on-site design advice, services by appointment and curates vintage and antique items.

“I don’t buy just any items,” Antaya explained. “I want everything to flow together, be functional, interesting, and timeless. I don’t love following trends. I gravitate toward Canadian-owned, handmade, sustainable, and woman-owned suppliers.”

A seasoned photographer with 18 years of experience, Antaya describes herself as a creative person.

“My husband, a contractor, recognized that the corporate world wasn’t for me and sent me to school to become an accredited interior designer. I’ve always been interested in reusing items and finding new and interesting ways to make use of things. I believe that interior design can be thoughtful and eco-conscious.”

The Fox Shop’s hours will be 11 a.m. to 5 or 6 p.m. on weekdays and 12 p.m. to 4 or 5 p.m. on Saturdays. The shop will be closed on Sundays.

Antaya is optimistic about Bridgeburg’s future.

“Bridgeburg is back,” she said. “I believe in this community and I’ve joined the BIA. Incredible talent and businesses are moving in as we speak.”
