Residents now have an online tool to track progress being made by the local government on various issues and projects.
Last week, the Town of Fort Erie unveiled its public dashboard, which outlines work being done related to six pillars in the municipality’s 2023-26 strategic plan.
Those pillars are sustainable, reliable access to healthcare; quality of life and community well-being; sustainable and managed growth; economic prosperity and diversification; environmental and climate change resiliency; and comprehensive housing options.
Within each pillar are specific projects that are also measured in a percentage of how far along they are.

Various projects and initiatives come with a status of either pending, on-track, behind schedule, roadblock, completed and upcoming.
The Town’s website on Sunday was showing that the Town has reached 36 per cent of its goals in the plan.
“The dashboard will help build trust and manage expectations as we communicate progress for each key pillar and initiative of the plan,” said the Town’s manager of strategic initiatives Bev Bradnam in a news release.
She also said the public sector has used similar dashboards to build trust and share progress, and that it is a dynamic tool that will showcase the Town’s achievements.
“The dashboard reflects, at a high level and easy-to-understand language, the progress of the plan. The staff-led portion of the dashboard provides the ability to capture detailed notes and reports for easy access,” said Bradnam.
In the same news release, Mayor Wayne Redekop thanked council “for stepping up and becoming champions of a strategic pillar that they are passionate about and one they feel their leadership will have the most impact on.”
By being part of implementing this plan, council will “help ensure that we continue moving the yardstick on this journey towards a community for everyone and that staff have the resources and tools they need,” said the mayor.
