Police seek video after armed robbery at Bertie Street convenience store

Niagara police are investigating an armed robbery at Bertie Convenience on Friday. Officers were called at about 7:40 p.m. after a suspect pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money.

Police say the suspect got a quantity of cash from the till and fled the store, which is located at Bertie and North streets. The suspect left the area in a black sedan and was last seen heading north on High Street.

The 5 District Criminal Investigations Branch has taken over the case.

Police described the suspect as a Caucasian male, about 5-foot-10 and about 25 years old.

They said he wore a brown winter jacket, grey hooded sweatshirt, black pants, brown and black work boots, a dark-coloured face mask and a red and black toque.

Detectives are asking residents and businesses near Bertie Street to review video surveillance and contact police if they see the suspect or the vehicle.
