There are three power outages planned this week in one pocket of Fort Erie, one of them already completed Monday morning.
The neighbourhood affected is in the area surrounding Old Fort Erie in Ward 2.
On Monday morning, about 29 customers were affected on Albany and Albert streets, as well as Edward Avenue.
At about 9 a.m. on Tuesday, there will be 33 Canadian Niagara Power (CNP) customers on Albany, Alfred, Phillips, and Helena streets, as well as Washington Road, whose power will be shut off for approximately two hours.
Another planned outage is scheduled for Tuesday at 9 a.m. and could last up to four hours, affecting 37 customers on Adelaide Street, Dominion Road, Ferguson Avenue, George Road, Joseph Street, Lakeshore Road and Malkin Avenue.
These events are listed on CNP’s website, and were also confirmed by customer service manager Kristine Carmichael following an inquiry from Fort Erie Radio on Monday.
These outage are necessary for CNP to perform upgrades and maintenance to the existing electrical system in the affected areas.
CNP attempted to inform the affected customers via call blasts, says the utility’s website.
“For safety reasons please do not perform any work in conjunction with this outage,” says CNP.
While CNP says it performs this work as effectively and efficiently as possible, circumstances may arise that shorten or extend these events, such as equipment failure, inclement weather, and scope of work.
