McHappy Day raises $1,750 for Community Living Fort Erie

The numbers are in for this year’s McHappy Day in support of Community Living Fort Erie (CLFE).

A cheque presentation took place on Tuesday with the local non-profit organization collecting a donation of $1,750 through funds brought in at the annual event on May 8.

The cheque was presented by Anne Molnar, community relations representative for McDonald’s restaurants in Niagara, to Sandy Leemet, executive director of CLFE, and Simon Reeves, manager of family and community support programs.

The amount will support the organization’s children’s inclusive summer program, which ensures that kids of all abilities have access to supportive and fun camp experiences, says a news release about the final amount.

“We truly value the commitment of McDonald’s Fort Erie to supporting local charities,” said Leemet.

“Their generosity helps make inclusion possible,” and partnerships like this “reflect the power of community and corporate giving to make a real difference.”

McHappy Day is a nationwide initiative that brings communities together in support of children and families.

Each year, proceeds from McHappy Day support Ronald McDonald House Charities as well as local children’s charities, which benefit thousands of families across the country.

“The impact of this one day is far-reaching. It helps families access critical supports when away from home and helps local children be included in community camps with their peers,” says CLFE’s news release.

“McHappy Day brought people together for more than just a meal. It was a day of giving back,” said Molnar.

A portion of proceeds from every menu item sold went directly to support CLFE.

CLFE is “grateful to be supported through this meaningful initiative and acknowledges the importance of local businesses, like McDonald’s Fort Erie, continuing to invest in community well-being,” said the release.
