Lucky Stryx rolls out food drive for Salvation Army

Lucky Stryx is partnering with the local Salvation Army to collect food for families in need this holiday season. Donation bins will be at the bowling alley starting Tuesday through December 15.

The drive comes as the demand on food banks rises across Niagara. Lucky Stryx manager Lisa Randall told Fort Erie Radio the effort at the local bowling alley on Klauck Street aims to support neighbours facing tough times and to give back to the community that supports the alley.

β€œI called the Salvation Army and asked what was most needed, and they said food,” said Randall.

She noted the decision to help was also personal.

β€œI had been in a position in my life at some point that I required the services too, so I like to give back,” said Randall.

A tournament at the alley this weekend is expected to draw crowds ahead of the food drive launch next week, and visitors will be encouraged to bring non-perishable items once collection bins arrive Tuesday.

β€œIt’s one hand washing another, giving back to the community that comes in and helps support us,” Randall added.

Lucky Stryx is also planning a glow-in-the-dark Halloween event and family specials to offer affordable outings this fall. Donations can be brought directly to Lucky Stryx or to the Salvation Army’s food bank on Gilmore Road.
