From Private Lake to Moonbright: Exciting evening of horse racing at Fort Erie Race Track

The Fort Erie Race Track witnessed a fun evening of horse racing June 11. Here is a recap of the seven different races:

Race 1: Private Lake leads the pack
Kicking off at 4:35 p.m., the first race, a one mile and seventy yards claiming event for three-year-olds and upward, saw Private Lake, ridden by Ismael Eluid Mosqueira, clinch victory with a winning time of 1:42.84. Private Lake’s win rewarded bettors with $4.80, $2.90, and $2.10. Private Network, with jockey Teneca Wolfe, came in second, while Redoute’s Light, ridden by Christopher Husbands, secured third place. The winning horse was bred by Dr. K. K. Jayaraman & Dr. V. Devi Jayaraman and trained by Richard M. Davis for owners Catalano, Gerard, Gnozzo, Victor A., and Davis, Richard M.

Race 2: One More Ring triumphs
The second race, starting at 5:04 p.m., was a six-furlong claiming race for three-year-olds and upward. One More Ring, with Desean Bynoe in the saddle, finished strong with a winning time of 1:11.38, paying out $9.90, $4.70, and $3.00. Exceed, ridden by Christopher Husbands, and Stormy Soul, guided by MarkLee Z. Buchanan, followed in second and third places, respectively. The winning horse, bred by Colebrook Farms, was trained by Julie Mathes for owner Bruno Schickedanz.

Race 3: Grand Ambition steals the show
At 5:35 p.m., the third race featured a six-furlong claiming event for three-year-olds and upward. Grand Ambition, ridden by Ismael Eluid Mosqueira, crossed the finish line first with a time of 1:10.58. The win paid $4.30, $2.80, and $2.40. Classy Boy, with jockey Leo Salles, finished second, followed by Mighty Pele, ridden by Edgar Zenteno. Joe Pirone & Paul Cooper bred the winning horse, trained by Jeff Voyce for owners Voyce, Jeff, and McGirr Jr., Herbert.

Race 4: Big Time Louie’s commanding win
Big Time Louie, ridden by Leo Salles, took the spotlight in the fourth race, a five-furlong claiming event originally scheduled for turf but run on dirt, with a winning time of 57.89. The victory paid $3.00 and $2.40. Red Maple, guided by Christopher Husbands, secured second place, while Bound Lucky, with Alexis Sanchez aboard, finished third. Bred by White House Stables and Mary-Anne Baumgartner, the winning horse is trained by Roy George Agostino for owner Even Steven Stables Ltd.

Race 5: Jimmy Is a Breeze breezes to victory
The fifth race, a six and a half furlong maiden claiming event for fillies and mares, saw Jimmy Is a Breeze, ridden by Edgar Zenteno, secure first place with a time of 1:18.79. The win paid $3.50, $2.40, and $2.20. Almonte Princess, with jockey Christopher Husbands, followed in second place, while Ashwicken, ridden by Cheyenne Kerr, finished third. Bred by Hopefield Farms, Jimmy Is a Breeze was trained by John Simms for owner John Simms.

Race 6: Haddassah’s Devil claims victory
In the sixth race, a six and a half furlong claiming event for three-year-olds and upward, Haddassah’s Devil, guided by Pierre Mailhot, finished first with a time of 1:18.66. The win paid $5.30, $2.80, and $2.40. Beyond My Dreams, with Edgar Zenteno, came in second, followed by Half Lit, ridden by Kirk Johnson. Bred by Al Ulwelling & Bill Ulwelling, the winning horse is trained by Richard M. Davis for owners Catalano, Gerard, Gnozzo, Victor A., and Davis, Richard M.

Race 7: Moonbright shines bright
In the final race of the day, a six-furlong allowance event for fillies and mares, Moonbright, ridden by Da-Sean Zavier Gaskin, claimed victory with a time of 1:10.50. The win paid $10.00, $3.80, and $3.50. Tamana, with jockey Alexis Sanchez, finished second, while Nicole’s Song, ridden by Omar Moreno, secured third place. Bred by James Everatt, Janeane Everatt & Arika Meeuse, the winning horse is trained by Joseph Humber for owner Joy K. Elkins.
