Fort Erie man accused of sexual assaults starting several years ago

A 38-year-old Fort Erie man faces charges for a series of sexual assaults alleged to have taken place “over a period of several years,” according to a news release from Niagara Regional Police.

An adult female victim reported that offences took place when she was under 16 years of age and continued into adulthood.

The victim and the accused were known to each other, police said.

As a result of an investigation, the man is charged with sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, sexual exploitation, four counts of sexual assault, and two counts of uttering death threats.

The accused is being held for a bail hearing on Wednesday in St. Catharines.

To protect the identity of the victim, limited details are being released, said the NRP.

The investigation remains ongoing. Police believe there may be additional victims and are appealing to anyone who believes they are a victim or has information about other potential victims to contact investigators at (905) 688-4111, option 3, extension 1025110.
