Fort Erie Film Circuit presents acclaimed drama ‘Anatomy of a Fall’

The Fort Erie Film Circuit, in partnership with the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), is proud to present its next Monday Night at the Movies screening. This time they are showing the critically-lauded “Anatomy of a Fall”, the fourth feature film by director Justine Triet.

Having recently won the Palme d’Or, the film cements Triet’s position as a leading talent in modern cinema. Unfolding like a captivating novel, “Anatomy of a Fall” delves into the complexities of a marriage and the intricacies of the legal system.

The main character Sandra, a successful German writer, lives with her husband Samuel and their visually impaired son in a secluded French chalet. The film opens with a scene hinting at tension within their isolated home, foreshadowing the tragedy to come.

Samuel is found dead in the snow, leaving authorities to determine whether it was suicide or murder. Sandra becomes the prime suspect, leading to a captivating courtroom drama.

The film masterfully dissects confirmation bias and the elusiveness of truth, using the courtroom as a stage where every detail is scrutinized. As Sandra’s past with Samuel is brought to light, their son becomes a key witness, adding another layer of complexity to the narrative.

Suspenseful and thought-provoking, “Anatomy of a Fall” explores the messiness of life and the challenges of finding the truth.

Catch this award-winning film on Monday, April 29. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the film starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 each, or three for $25, available for cash only at the door.

The screening will take place at the Meridian Centre for the Arts (1640 Garrison Rd.) located at Greater Fort Erie Secondary School. Refreshments will be courtesy of Crystal Ball Cafe.
