Fort Erie business owner wins $1M in Lotto Max draw

A Fort Erie resident is $1 million richer after winning a MaxMillions prize in a recent Lotto Max draw.

According to a news release issued Thursday by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) Corporation, Georgios Avramopoulos won $1 million in the December 30, 2025 Lotto Max draw.

Avramopoulos, 62, collected his winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. In the release, he said he checked his ticket at a local gas station and was surprised by the result.

“When I realized the prize amount was $1 million, I asked, ‘Is this real?’” he said.

The Fort Erie business owner plans to travel following his win, including a return trip to Greece to visit family. He also hopes to visit Egypt to see historical landmarks.

According to OLG, Ontario players have won more than $9.7 billion in Lotto Max prizes since the game launched in 2009, including hundreds of MaxMillions prizes across the province.

Lotto Max tickets cost $5 per play, with draws held Tuesdays and Fridays.
