Crystal Beach will celebrate eclipse with festival and extravaganza

Crystal Beach will be celebrating the April 8th celestial spectacle the entire weekend beforehand with the BIA’s Total Solar Eclipse Festival.

Food trucks will be available in the grove on Erie Road (across from Crystal Ball Cafe) starting at noon on Saturday, April 6, and live music will be rocking three different stages through to eclipse day on Monday.

Saturday’s musical acts will include Doppleganger Duo, Duo Leepa, Kristen Halfpenny, Troy Soper, Don Sexsmith, and Wait and See.

Sunday will bring out Ron McEwan, Maple Jam Duo, Pail Gigliotti, Feverish Lemons, Michelle Hedley, and Blackstones.

Live music will continue on the big day with performances from Evan Rotella, Fort Erie School of Music, and a unique sound bath experience with Blueraven.

The solar eclipse is expected to peak at 3:20 p.m. on Monday for a breathtaking three minutes.

In addition to the Festival, Advancing Crystal Beach (ACB) is hosting an event within an event with their Eclipse Extravaganza Under the Cosmic Sky, scheduled for Sunday, April 7, from 4 to 9 p.m.

This free event is being held at the stage three location (the Bay Beach patio and pavilion) and aims to be both informative and entertaining for the whole family.

A guest from the Ontario Science Centre will be on hand for a few hours to offer eclipse-themed activities for children and families, and an amateur astronomer is bringing her telescope for those interested in stargazing.

Attendees will be able to enjoy a barbecue, some educational space videos, and a space-themed movie on the big screen.
