Council to decide name of future Thunder Bay Road park

The Town of Fort Erie has finalized the design for a future neighbourhood park on Thunder Bay Road, with council set to choose a name at a meeting on May 11. Construction remains scheduled for early fall 2026 with completion expected by spring 2027, pending nearby road work.

The park site, about 1.27 hectares, sits beside a stormwater pond and a residential area of single-detached homes in the Ridgeway-Thunder Bay neighbourhood.

Council will receive a report on May 11 that includes public input and a staff recommendation on the park name before making a final decision. The meeting will be open to the public.

Residents were asked to choose between three options: Thunder Bay Park, Butler’s Rangers Park and Claus Farm Park.

Public feedback gathered during consultation will form part of the report to council.

Project material provided on the town’s “Let’s Talk” website indicates feedback leaned toward “Thunder Bay Park.”

The town has not released renderings of the final layout. The design will be made public after the construction schedule is confirmed.
