Come to Ridgefest early for the Lions Club pancake breakfast

There is nothing better than a good breakfast to start the day.

It is even better when that good breakfast is supporting a noble cause and Mayor Wayne Redekop might be the one to flip your pancake.

The Ridgeway Lions Club will be hosting their downtown breakfast to kick off the second day of Ridgefest.

Ridgefest, an annual festival in downtown Ridgeway, is taking place this year on Friday, July 5 and Saturday, July 6. The event promises plenty of fun with shopping, food, a magic show and pony rides for the kids, and a beer tent with live music for the adults.

Ron Brunner, Ridgeway Lion and chair of the pancake breakfast, said the Lions Club has helped with the breakfast for at least 40 years.

“We serve pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice,” said Brunner.

The price for the breakfast will be the same as last year, costing adults $8 to get three pancakes, three sausages and a coffee, tea or juice. Children ages 5 to 10 will receive a smaller portion for $5 and kids under five will receive a smaller yet free portion.

“We start serving (breakfast) at 8 a.m. and finish around 11:30 am,” said Brunner. “We will be located in the Beer Store parking lot as before.”

Brunner said the profits raised from the pancake breakfast will be put towards the Lions’ Hospice Niagara fundraiser.

“We are raising $225,000 towards one of the courtyards in the hospice building,” he explained.
