Cause of power outage affecting 686 Fort Erie customers still unknown

A power outage cut electricity to 686 Canadian Niagara Power customers in Fort Erie on Friday evening, but the utility has not said what caused it as of Saturday.
The electricity distributor for Fort Erie first reported the outage on social media at 7:36 p.m. Friday, with no estimate for when power would return.
Canadian Niagara Power posted at 9:56 p.m. that crews had restored power to every affected customer.
Fort Erie Radio asked Canadian Niagara Power on Friday night what caused the outage and whether outages of this size had become more common in Fort Erie.
Canadian Niagara Power did not respond as of publication.
The utility asked any Fort Erie customer still without power to call its outage line at (844) 501-9473.
