Canadian Tire Gas+ second best in Canada for Jumpstart fundraising

The Canadian Tire Gas+ location on Garrison Road recently pumped a huge amount of money into charity.

In a recent company-wide fundraiser for Jumpstart, Canadian Tire’s cause that supports youth sports and recreation, the Fort Erie location was number one in the Golden Horseshoe and second out of every gas bar in the country.

From June 7 to August 4, the store brought in $7,500, a major increase from the $1,400 raised during the same campaign last year.

Major contributions from local business A1 Quality Roofing & Siding also helped the final result, said franchisee and owner Jessica Carroll.

“They supported us the whole way,” she said.

She’s also thankful to her employees who were able to raise awareness about the cause and get customers to donate or round up when cashing out.

“Our staff worked hard to get where we got,” she told Fort Erie Radio in an interview, adding that a gas bar in Nipissing took first place.

She said the campaign locally was “really community driven and focused.”

Despite the tough economic times currently when people are watching their spending, it’s “completely awesome” that local customers contributed the way they did, said Carroll.
